About Tivoli, Red Hook, and the Hudson Valley

Tivoli Bays -The largest tidal freshwater wetland complex (1,722 acres) on the Hudson Esturary, Tivoli Bays extends for two miles along the east shore of the Hudson River between Tivoli and Barrytown. The site includes two large coves. Facilities at Tivoli Bays include the Hamersley Barn, constructed in 1918 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Stony Creek canoe launch, reached from Kidd Lane; a barrier free viewing platform on North Bay; the Bard College Field Station; and extensive trails. 

The Tivoli Bays Visitor Center is located in same building as the Library, right across the hall.

The Hudson River National Estuarine Research Reserve is headquartered at the Bard College Field Station on South Bay, near the mouth of the Saw Kill. For more information on Hudson River estuarine research reserves, including Tivoli Bays, visit their website.
