Money Month: Tax Diversify Your Retirement Income
    Starts: 6:00 pm
    Ends: April 4, 2018 - 7:00 pm

Location: Tivoli Free Library, 86 Broadway, Tivoli, NY 12583, USA

    Description:

How do taxes fit into your retirement planning?

Learn how to help reduce the effect taxes can have on your retirement income.

Retirement isn’t what it used to be—especially with people living longer and spending more of their lives as retirees. With fewer companies offering pensions, and Social Security facing an uncertain future, the way we fund our retirement is changing, too.

And tax rates? While they may be at historic lows now, there’s no telling where they’ll be in the future and how they’ll impact your retirement income.

So, how can you keep more of the savings you’ve worked a lifetime to enjoy?

Join us for this free Tax Diversification Seminar, where you’ll learn:

    • Why you should tax diversify your retirement portfolio
    • Where your retirement income may come from
    • What impact taxes can have on your retirement lifestyle
    • How nontraditional options can supplement your retirement income using permanent life insurance, while providing valuable life insurance protection during your working years

This is a free event. Please contact the library to sign up! Happens in the East Room. (This is part of a monthly series in April.)

Presented by Ardal Powell, MA, PhD, a Financial Services Professional Agent with the New York Life Insurance Company. He is based in New Windsor, NY.

(This is an informational and insurance sales presentation. Neither New York Life nor its agents provide tax, legal, or accounting advice. Please consult your own professional for tax, legal, and accounting advice. Attendees are not required to purchase any products or services.)

    Starts: 7:00 pm
    Ends: April 19, 2018 - 8:00 pm

Location: Tivoli Free Library, 86 Broadway, Tivoli, NY 12583, USA

    Description:

Arriving at his fifth school in as many years, diplomat’s son Osei Kokote knows he needs an ally if he is to survive his first day – so he’s lucky to hit it off with Dee, the most popular girl in school. But one student can’t stand to witness this budding relationship: Ian decides to destroy the friendship between the black boy and the golden girl. By the end of the day, the school and its key players – teachers and pupils alike – will never be the same again.

The tragedy of Othello is transposed to a 1970s suburban Washington schoolyard, where kids fall in and out of love with each other before lunchtime, and practice a casual racism picked up from their parents and teachers. Peeking over the shoulders of four 11 year olds – Osei, Dee, Ian, and his reluctant ‘girlfriend’ Mimi – Tracy Chevalier’s powerful drama of friends torn apart by jealousy, bullying and betrayal will leave you reeling.

Our PageTurners Book Club meets the 3rd Thursday of each month at 7:00pm in the library for a lively group discussion of a different book each month! Come every month, or just when the book interests you!

Battle of the Books is a trivia contest for 6th-9th graders with questions based on eight books that all Warriors read. Anyone currently in grades 6-9 who loves to read and wants a challenging (and fun) activity to do over the summer! Mid-Hudson Battle of the Books encourages a community of engaged middle and high-school-aged readers in our four-county region by introducing them to great books, authors, and their fellow readers in an atmosphere of friendly competition and good sportsmanship.

Battle of the Books is a national Summer Reading Program for middle and high-school students in the five-county region of the Mid-Hudson Library System. The program began in 2005 as a way to encourage middle school students to read during the summer. In 2016, the program was extended to reach high school students as well. The summer program culminates with two regional battles: one for high school (08/18/18) and one for middle school (09/08/18).
