Guess how many Starburst jelly beans and M&M chocolate eggs combined are in the jar! Winner wins the jar of candy. (Winner is either the exact amount or the closest to it.)

Only one guess per person in person (no guesses via web/social media). Write down your guess, include your name, and telephone number.

Food for Fines

For the month of April 2019, the Tivoli Free Library will waive patron fines if they bring in non-perishable food items. 1 item = $3.00 applied to a patron’s account. Personal care items will also be accepted including: toothpaste, toothbrushes, toilet paper, and feminine hygiene, as well as basic household cleaning products. All donations will benefit the Red Hook United Methodist Church Food Pantry.

Village Egg Hunt

Drawdown/Film and Craft: Saving My Tomorrow-Kids Who Love the Earth

Kids! As part of our series of events during the Drawdown EcoChallenge (and to celebrate Earth Day!), come to the library and view this final installment in the acclaimed HBO series which includes stories about the importance of youth activism and the difference kids can make.

Stick around after the film – there will be an Earth Day-related craft after the film at 4:00pm with Arobi.

Be sure to bring a reusable cup or mug. We will offer beverages and light snacks. Free. All ages welcome.

4th Annual Tivoli Arbor Day

Tree Planting, Poster Contest, Crafts, & more! Join us for this year’s Tivoli Arbor Day activities! Come plant a tree at noon. Kids can enter a poster contest for next year’s poster. Guess the age of a tree. Write a “PoeTree” haiku with Arobi. Decorate a Tree “Cookie” with Laura Gail Tyler. Craft supplies will be provided.

Bard Math Circle

Need help with math? Bard College math students are back to do fun math games and activities! Come hang out with Bard undergraduates and other math enthusiasts to play games, solve puzzles, and work on some enriching problem solving based on an exciting mathematical theme! Chess Club

Second Mondays, starting March 11, 2019 @ 4:00pm-5:00pm in the East Room

Join us every 2nd Monday of the month for a friendly game of chess or to learn the fundamentals of this great strategy game! Youth Programming Coordinator, Arobi, will teach you how to play.

Free for all ages and skill levels. Chess sets provided. No experience needed. Just drop in!

Paws to Read to Wilson

Every other Monday, next one, April 29, 2018 (series runs until 06/10/19) @ 4:00pm-5:00pm in the library/East Room

Improve the literacy skills of children through the assistance of Wilson, a certified therapy dog. They can read a book aloud to Wilson to make them more confident in reading.

Free. For elementary to middle school students. Home-schooled students are welcome. Children must sign up for 10 minute time slots if they would like to read to Wilson. You can call to sign up with the library.

In the aftermath of the Civil War, Captain Jefferson Kyle Kidd, an elderly widower and itinerant news reader, is offered fifty dollars to bring an orphan girl, who was kidnapped and raised by Kiowa raiders, from Wichita Falls back to her family in San Antonio.

Are you a seasoned tarot reader or just interested in learning about tarot cards? Join us for Tarot Club! Come to this fun, informal gathering to explore all aspects of tarot. Bring a favorite deck if you have one. Led by Sabra Margaret. Sabra is a Reiki Master and intuitive. She has been reading tarot for over a decade. This is not a tarot reading session!

Information

The Tivoli Free Library provides quality programs and materials to the people of Tivoli and surrounding communities. Situated in the historic Watts dePeyster Firemans Hall, in the heart of the village, the library is just west of the shops and restaurants. The building is also home to the Village offices and court.

Museum Passes

The following museum passes can be checked out for 4-days and must be returned to the Tivoli Free Library. You need a valid Mid-Hudson System Library Card in good standing. Available at Circulation Desk – please call to check availability; first come, first served! At this time, the pass can not be reserved. Call or stop by for more info!

Olana Museum House Tour Pass

Olana is a 250-acre artist-designed landscape with a Persian-inspired house at its summit, embracing unrivaled panoramic views of the vast Hudson River Valley. Reservations for house tours tours only are highly recommended and can be made by calling Olana at: (518) 828-0135.
